Ruben Schade on reasons for being nice

July 17, 2023 — Nico Cartron

One of Ruben's last blog post was about Web form has a free text field? Say thanks!, in which Ruben makes a point of using the free text field found on web forms, to add a small nice message, such as "thanks" or a translated message.

His reasoning (which I'm adhering to) is that you should behave online like you would in-person, i.e.: be nice and thankful! Not to mention that it makes the person processing the order (hopefully) feel better!

This reminded me of the article I wrote a few months ago on "being kind and honest".

Thanks, Ruben! I'll put that to good use next time I order something online!

If you're not already doing it, I highly recommend subscribing to Ruben's blog posts - like me, he writes on many topics, mostly retrocomputing, FreeBSD and Anime, but also a lot of times on random thoughts and things happening to Clara and him. This is very refreshing and is also what I'm striving for when writing my own articles. - So, thanks again, Ruben! :)
