Quick review of the Sensor Watch Pro
Context
I already own a Sensor Watch (see this article for more details), and while I absolutely love it, I barely wear it.
Why is that? Well, mostly because the buzzer it uses is the F-91W default's one, which means I can't hear it, which is super annoying when using it as an alarm.
So I stopped wearing it.
But as I mentioned almost a year ago, Joey has been working on a "Pro" version of the Sensor Watch, which (among other things), brings:
- a much louder buzzer,
- an infrared light sensor,
- an accelerometer,
- and finally the 9-pin connector is back!
Assembling it
Here's what I received - from left to right:
- Sensor Watch Pro board,
- New custom LCD,
- Accelerometer
and the "donor" F-91W on the right:

The board comes with an instruction guide:

The result
It took me about 30 minutes to assemble it: I spent a lot of time on the custom LCD, as making it fit into the plastic body was really hard.
Once done, here is how it looks:

Original F-91W on the left, F-91W with Custom LCD on the right
Using it
I have been using it for a few days now, so this is early, but at the same time I can compare with the original Sensor Watch.
What I like
- Custom LCD: it is way better than the original one: more characters, more pleasant, more space, it's a real joy to look at
- Buzzer: promise fulfilled, it is a lot louder, to the point that there's a setting to configure its level (low/medium/high). It can now wake me up without any problem!
- Temperature: it's now built-in, and while I don't know whether I'll use it a lot, it's nice to have it. Of course, because it's close to the skin, it reports a value a bit higher than the real temperature.
- Accelerometer: I haven't used it, so can't comment - but I have compiled a firmware with the activity complication and will report once I have used it.
What I dislike
Well, at that stage I haven't found anything to complain about.
Wrap Up
Really happy with the Sensor Watch Pro: it delivers what it promised, so I highly recommend getting one if you're into such things!
