PineTime's Infinitime Firmwares history

This article aims at keeping track of Infinitime firmware versions: when they've been released, what they brought, and where to get them.

Rationale

I wanted to have a place where I can look at if needed, to answer questions such as "when did Infinitime bring this specific feature?"

So I figured out it would be nice to have it also available for other folks :)

Of course you could look at the Github releases page, but the present article wants to be "straight to the point".

Also, bear in mind that the PineTime wiki is a very good place to start with, if you need more detailed information.

    • Heart-rate sensor application:
      • Displays the current value, and when running, this value is also displayed on the clock face
      • Value exposed over BLE, meaning other applications can read it (e.g. companion app such as Amazfish)
    • Navigation app: InfiNav - works e.g. with PureMaps on SailfishOS

  • Main features:
    • Touch panel fixed (no more freezing)
    • Improved music application (possibility to control both volumes and browsing, display the song progression)
    • Notification UI rewritten: can now display up to 100 characters
    • Improved BLE connectivity

  • Release date: September 26, 2020

  • Main features:
    • Music application
    • Paint application
    • Touchmodes allows gestures and polling
    • Manual validation of the updated firmware (allows rollback in case of issue)
    • Improved battery life (most peripherals switched off when display off) - up to 7 days
    • New application menu, can display up to 6 pages
  • Remarks:
    • 0.8.x had a few -develop versions, I am just putting the final 0.8.2 one in that list
    • WARNING It is recommended to use 0.8.3 and onwards to avoid being stuck in an infinite loop after reset (see the GH page for more details)

Infinitime 0.7.1

  • Release date: July 20, 2020

  • Main features: Basic features: clock/watchface.
  • Remarks:
    • 0.7.1 is the version which ships with the sealed PineTime.
    • Heartrate and step counters icons on the Clock screen are just placeholders.
