Review of the Altra Timp 5 Running Shoes
Context
I bought those shoes after the Ultra Trail du St Jacques last year: the day after the race, the trail village was still open and I went to check it out. There was an Altra booth, and since I needed a new pair of shoes, I started discussing with the staff.
The choice
I initially thought that because my feet were swollen because of the race, it would not be ideal to try some shoes, but in fact it was almost the perfect moment to do it, as my feed could not be "bigger".
I knew that the lacing system was a real issue for me, and when checking the Timp 5, they had this nice lacing system for the instep - this is usually where I would struggle with other shoes, either lacing too tight or too loose.
I tried the khaki model, but they didn't have it in stock, so I went for those flashy ones:

Runs
I really feel good in those shoes, so I wore them for a couple of runs, but now I'm keeping them mostly for races. I used them at my aborted CCC, in August, as well as the Hivernale des Templiers in December.
I especially like the Vibram Megagrip outsole, and put it to test during the Hivernale which was muddy: I did not slip at all.
Going Further
I bought a second pair this month (they were on sale):

and I'm seriously considering buying a third pair - this time the khaki ones!
