My first Atlas probe is 12 years old!

April 17, 2026 — Nico Cartron

I recently received this email from RIPE NCC:

It's your probe's birthday !

Dear Nico,

To celebrate your probe's birthday, we are giving you 7442696 credits to use for
scheduling your own measurements.

In the last 12 years, your probe was connected for 62.020000% of the time.

Happy measuring and thank you on behalf of everyone at the RIPE NCC and the
other RIPE Atlas users.

That's an amusing reminder - 12 years ago we lived in a completely different place/region, I had a different job (I changed jobs 3 times since then!), but this old fella is still around!
Granted, 62% of uptime is not great, but we moved places, so that's not surprising.

Anyway, here's to many more years, dear Atlas probe!

Here is in action in my rack - even the sticker on it is outdated, I don't have this OVH ADSL connection anymore ;)
