Music *day: Tracy Chapman's "Tracy Chapman" (1988)

April 03, 2024 — Nico Cartron

Once again, I (re)discovered that album while driving and listening to Spotify.

I still have the CD somewhere in the house, as I listened to that album a lot when I was ~16, and it brought back a lot of memories.

I forgot how good it is, with countless great songs:

  • Talkin' 'bout a Revolution
  • Fast Car
  • Baby Can I hold you
  • For My Lover
  • If Not Now

I also realised that my English skills have greatly improved, since I now understand all of the lyrics, which was far from being the case back when I was a teenager :-)

Now, unlike other artists which I've been following since then (e.g. Radiohead or Archive), I haven't specially listened to Tracy Chapman's latest albums.

I only listened to Crossroads a bit, but no other album.
