Just a 100k

As usual, putting my thoughts here mostly for myself.
I recently wrote in my race report about my 100k Ultra des Maures that I wanted to run "just" a 100k.
What did I mean by that?
Well, even though I ran only one 100 miles race (the Ultra du Saint Jacques in 2024), this made me realise that it required A LOT from me:
- probably 2 nights running/walking outside,
- a lot of preparation,
- dealing with nutrition and hydration for a long(er) time
"But Nico", you may ask, "do 40 or 60k really make a difference?"
I'm glad you asked! And yes it definitely does!
See, (at least for me) when running a 100k, I see it as a lot more "affordable" than a 100M:
- you spend "just" one night outside,
- reaching half of the race is usually done in less than 10 hours,
- less hours also means less muscle soreness,
- as well as less difficulties with food.
I consider I still haven't "cracked" the 100k, so there's a good chance to my main objective for 2026 is gonna be a 100k - stay tuned!
