InfiniTime 1.10 "Yellow Mango" - dismiss notifications, timer UI and more
Hardly 2 months after Limeberry, this release brings nice improvements, but also the usual bug fixes.
New Features
I made this section on purpose :)
There's no new feature per se in Yellow Mango, which in my opinion shows that
InfiniTime has come a long way (as I recently explained in that blog
article) - it's good to see
"only" improvements and bug fixes, and not trying to squeeze new features in
every new release.
Improvements
Dismiss notifications
With previous InfiniTime versions, swipping down to show the notifications would
show you the 5 last ones, with no way to remove/dismiss them.
It is now possible to do it, by swiping to the right :)
Improved Timer app
The Timer app UI has been reworked and is now a lot nicer to use:
However, I still find that its main problem is that it only vibrates once,
so you barely notice it.
I'd like to have multiple vibrations until I dismiss it, like the Alarm app
does.
App Drawer
The Navigation app, which works only with PureMaps and SailfishOS or Linux, has been moved to the last position on the 2nd page of the App drawer.
And I'm glad that the Alarm app, which was the last app on the 2nd page, is now the 3rd app of the 1st page - good as I use it every day :)
Improvement of colors displayed
This PR greatly improves the colors displayed by the LCD - see especially this comparison side by side by Kieran.
New battery icon(s)
This is a small change, but it makes reading battery level a lot easier.
Also, it frees some of the RAM memory used by all the previous icons, so nice
improvement :)
Bug Fixes
A lot of bug fixes and cleaning in that version, inclugind "Alarms sometimes do not trigger" Issue.
You can check by yourself the 55 PR that are included in Yellow Mango on that GH Milestone page.
One^M^M^M Two more things...
External flash memory
JF is still tinkering with the PineTime's external flash memory, as you can see in that tweet, it really looks promising! <3
InfiniTime Vision document
The team has released a one-pager on InfiniTime
vision here.
The goal of this document is to explain IT's core principles, which developers
should take into account when working on InfiniTime.
Things like: "keep it simple", "battery efficiency" or "prefer solid user experience over customization".
Wrap Up
What can I add? I've already said that InfiniTime ages like fine wine - I can't wait to see what else the community will bring in the coming version!
