I want an Amstrad NC100!

July 23, 2025 — Nico Cartron

Context

I finally found time to start reading the CPC Addict magazine I received a few months back, and boy I am so happy!

I have an article about it coming soon, but while reading it, I heard about the Amstrad NC100 notebook computer.

It was released in July 1992, and I didn't know it existed before - probably because back then (I was 14 years old), I could not have afforded it - but some 30 years later, it's a possibility:

  • it's a lot cheaper,
  • retrocomputing is a thing,
  • there's a lot of people selling it as they have no use of it.

So here we go, I am pondering buying this beauty:

One more thing

I am not sure reading CPC Addict is a good idea after all, as I also discovered the existence of the M4 board:

The M4 Board is a 2016 expansion card which enables WIFI access to and from
CPC, Romboard and using SD-Card as mass storage.

What. The. Heck.

Accessing my CPC from WiFi? :)
