First days with my Jolla Phone (2026)
Context
I just realised I forgot to post an article when I pre-ordered the new Jolla Phone some months ago... and it finally arrive end of July - look at this beauty!
First feedback
I'll be honest - my X10III had been in a drawer for some time now: with my new job, I had (much) less time to tinker with SFOS, and with my upcoming CCC trail race, I'd rather focus on my training that spending time on a computer/smartphone.
But here I am, with this really nice phone - compared to the original Jolla phone from 2013, it is roughly the same format, i.e. a "brick", albeit with some enhancements, such as a proper back camera, and a front camera (which the original Jolla phone was missing).
I got the Orange TOH, as well as the "Inari Blue" one whose cover lights up on a regular basis.
There is also the "privacy switch": a physical button on the left hand side, that you can configure to "kill" (aka disable) specific features:
I realised I had really been missing Sailfish OS a lot - it's still a pleasure to use, the browser works better than on the 10III, and the phone feels a lot snappier thanks to the upgraded hardware specs.
I'll write some more articles in the coming weeks, but boy how much did I miss that view:
