Book: How to disappear (Colin Greenwood, 2024)
Long overdue
I got this book as a Xmas present in 2024, but my wife ordered it as soon as it was available (circa April 2024 I believe) and it got delivered around September of the same year.
So why a review only now? Well, I "parked" it in a drawer as I wanted to take the time to "read it" (you'll see below why I put that in quotes), and didn't find the time... until last night, where I could not sleep, so around 1am I figured out it would be a good moment to finally do so.
The book
How to Disappear by Colin Greenwood, Radiohead's bassist, is a collection of photographs he took over 2 decades (2003 to 2016) while touring and rehearsing with the band.
It's presented in a very nice booklet (my wife ordered the "premium" version):

Thoughts
I liked How to Disappear a lot: Colin's photographs are a reminder that, even though for us fans we mostly see the band live, performing songs, but they are first and foremost friends for decades, and every song, every album has taken a huge amount of writing, composing, rehearsal - by the band and Nigel Godrich (Radiohead's producer) but also thanks to a lot of other folks, such as their tour crew.
Interestingly, I enjoyed Colin's writing a lot more: he goes into a lot of details about topics such as Radiohead's early days, his first bass guitar, their own studio or the feeling of touring America - and even goes almost philosophical when speaking about the feeling of performing live in front of huge audiences.
In a nutshell, I highly recommend How to Disappear, even though you're not a Radiohead fan, it is a very interesting book.
