Book: Animal Farm (George Orwell, 1945)
Context
Of course I knew George Orwell already (I still need to make progress on finishing 1984!), but honestly, I didn't know about Animal Farm.
When did I hear about it? Well, when reading "L'équipe" during the NBA playoffs, I was following the San Antonio Spurs and especially Victor Wenbanyama, who's an avid reader... and one of the books he was reading before the games was Animal Farm.
Plot
Animal Farm being extremely well-known, I'm not gonna sum it up here, or at least only very quickly: Animals in a farm rebel against their farmer/owner, kick him out, and go on to operate the farm by themselves, being free of any human being tyranny... only to discover that one regime can lead to another regime, not necessarily better.
Thoughts
Animal Farm is fairly short, making it super easy to read. I liked it a lot, of course there's the obvious comparison to the 1917 Bolshevik revolution. But more generally, it's a reminder that the grass always looks greener on the other side.
